Trendspotting 2009 ISSE show

40’s inspired hair
I tend to be pretty good at trend spotting. Looking over a vast sea of clothes, hair and style, where are the trends? What is new? What is popular? What is looking fresh? What is seemingly dated?

One of the big trends to appear on the floor at ISSE this year is/was 1940’s inspired hair styles on women. World War II victory rolls, half up, half down, soft flowing curls Styles that looked like there was time and effort put into creating something cold be seen frequently. A lot of hair looked very deliberate as opposed to rolling out of bed fashion. Many of the stylists who sported these looks were clearly proud of their efforts and when complimented on them they truly appreciated the fact that someone took not only the time to notice, but also to say something. I guess compliments never really do go out of style. I am curious to see if thie style and look is to prove a bit regional and be less prevelant in Chicago at ABS in just a few weeks. At the very least this will bode well for soft hold styling products, hot rollers, curling iron and hair sprays. Are we seeing the peaking of the flat iron?
