St. Baldricks

If you ever have the opportunity to participate in one of these clippering events you really should do it. St Baldricks stages hair clippering events to raise $ for cancer research for children’s cancer. Guys get sponsorships to get buzzed down for the cause. Andis often donates tools for use for these events and lets the cutters who donate their time keep the clippers. Everyone wins.

The return of the booth monkey

Today was set-up for ISSE in Long Beach, CA. I have the new booth monkey in place. Regular blog readers will recall that our old booth monkey mascot went missing last year. For the 2008 show season we have a new booth monkey mascot. Stop by the Andis booth to see our great education and see if you can spot the booth monkey. Hint: He swings from the truss in the jungle of the fern plant. If you mention the booth monkey to me at the show I will present you a free Andis gift. We will see if the booth monkey brings us luck this show season. I am expecting big things.

I want my Flattop

It is getting very hard to resist the call of the clipper. I really want to get a flattop. I have worked sooooo hard to grow my hair out, and for what? It looks good but it is driving me crazy. I can say I do like running my hands through it when I am working out… but if I keep working out I will look even better with that flat top. I think this week will be my last haircut before I go for the flattop.

Craig has models

I have recently had good success coming up with heads for clipper cuts for shows off of Craig’s list. The gigs section has proven to be a great place to post listings and find models willing to have clipper cuts for FREE on stage and in my classrooms. I still need a flattop for ISSE in Long Beach later this month. My post for a fade for the Bronner Bros. show in Atlanta in February nearly crashed my email system with all the responses.

Moofing

I am a “Moofer”. At least the Chicago Tribune article I read on the plane this week says I am. What I do now has a formal name; “Moofing”. Remember you heard the term here first. Moofing is a term meaning “mobile out of office” worker. A moofer is defined by their circumstances that dictate that they work on the go. And the fact that they are easily accessable through several forms of modern technology in spite of the fact that they are not pinned down in a office all day. An email enabled cell phone or Blackberry type device is the key tool of the modern moofer. BTW, just got me a new one of ‘em. My bright red Palm Centro is an amazing little tool. Half the weight of my old Treo, about 1/3 smaller and way snazzier. Favorite feature is the built-in Google maps with full turn-by-turn mapping and directions software.

More typing

I type a lot. My 2 fingers are killing me.  It is only to get worse. I maintain this blog and my monthly magazine column. I now have a bi-weekly report that I submit and I am developing a bi-monthly Clipper-stuff newsletter for my accounts. If I need fresh ideas I may be coming looking to my blog readers. Please email me anything good you’ve got. I guess it is just another example of open sourcing (see prior blog entry).
