Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3
Things are fun right now. They are almost always fun anyway, but especially now as we are testing some exciting new tools. Of course, I cannot say too much. What I can say is that the clipper cutters we rely on for testing are doing a great job of providing timely and fair feedback. I am not the best tester because I am too biased. I likely know too much sometimes and have made some judgments based upon what I know and what I think I know and what I want to be correct. Better to put the tools in the hands of talented cutters who know clipper cutting and let them run wild. The guy who is NOT having fun right now is Mr. UPS. Lots of small boxes are moving back and forth from Andis to testers and back to Andis. I can’t say what and when, but as always you can count on Andis for the latest, greatest and best in the clipper world. Stay tuned. When I can talk, I will do it here first!

Kenny is King!
Kenny Alsup is STILL the king of clipper education. Kenny was the educator for us at the show this past weekend. After all these years he still rocks. No one can keep up with this clipper dynamo. I had many stylists return to the booth after his presentations and rave about his talent, techniques and energy. He still can sell T-24 blades like no one else. Kenny can do things with that blade that no one on earth can create. Do you have a T-24? You need one. Ling haircuts that look nothing like a clipper cut. Amazing. Thank you Kenny. Truly education and inspiration. Do NOT miss Kenny. He will be in Philadelphia at the Schoenemann’s show next month. He will have a rare Hands-on class there on Saturday. These do not come along too often and are not to be missed. Contact me at Andis for info on how you can be a part of this powerful experience.

Degra's barber Shop
I ran in out of the rain for a fast neck trim and discovered what just might be the north east’s finest collection of antique barber chairs. Owner Richard DeGra provided me a short tour. There is a Padair from about 1910 like the one I used to have and quite a few other examples of early 1900’s porcelain chairs. It is a nice shop, trying to hold to traditional barbering roots in a changing world. Definitely worth the visit if you are in Hartford, CT.

Antonio McGill - Live on Stage
Antonio was a hit with the crowd this past week at America’s Beauty Show in Chicago. The new location and the international flavor added by the inclusion of Hair World 2008 raised expectations for the event and Antonio delivered. Did you catch his presentations? You do not want to miss this talented cutter with great information on how to make your Andis clippers do amazing things.

The Midwest beauty Show Tradition
It has become a tradition at the Midwest beauty Show that the last clipper cut on stage on the last day of the show is Georges flattop. George is a contractor in the decorators union. I first cut him 10 years ago at the show. He became a client in the shop. Now, every year, he stops by just before tear-down for his annual flattop. I have posted a pic of me on stage flattening hip up for 2008. See you next year George. The tradition continues.

The Booth Monkey Lives on!
Once again the lucky booth monkey was there at the Andis stage to provide support and bring us the sales and relationships we have come to enjoy. He did a fine job again this past show. The booth monkey needs a name. Please email me your ideas for the Andis mascot booth monkey naming contest. If your suggestion for the monkey’s name is picked Andis will send you a free clipper!

Lynn, Antonio and George
The Andis team rocked the America’s Beauty Show this past weekend. Antonio McGill and Lynn Yafcek were our educators along with the help of new team member George Gomez. George supported the Andis presentation on the Latino Beauty Congress stage. Sales were good. Crowds were strong. Hair was clippered. Stages were swept. See you in Chicago again downtown at McCormick place in 2009!
